My Christian Profile How God Called Me
Last May 29, 2005, I celebrated my 25th year anniversary in my spiritual walk with the Lord. I still remember the first time I attended JIL in V. Mapa High School when my friends and I came to the service, and after Bro. Eddie preached his powerful message about salvation followed by a film showing entitled “The Burning Hell.” The movie was really an eye opener for me to the extent that after movie I saw myself crying at the altar and accepted the Lord Jesus as my Savior and Lord. Since then my life was radically changed as I quit smoking, stopped taking drugs and hated drinking alcohol. Since then I always looked and desired to be with the people in the church, craving to read the bible trying to understand every message of the Gospel reading it day and night not knowing that I am missing to puff some cigars until I forgot totally about smoking. Some few weeks after, JIL moved to Araullo High School and I began to be active in the maintenance ministry in carrying chairs before and after the JIL Sunday services. One of the experiences that I will never forget in my life is when I involved myself in the crusade team of Bro. Eddie as a maintenance person helping in every means that I knew how, from setting up banners, handing out flyers, putting up posters, arranging chairs, a catcher during altar call, a help during deliverance service and packing up things afterwards. I even became active in attending community bible studies and jail ministries. Helping JIL in all services like crusades, Wednesday healing services and Sunday services had been part of my college years until the Lord put me in the worship team as a worship leader in Araullo High School from 1983 to 1987. It was a great and privileged experience to lead a congregation of 20,000 people or more in praising and worshiping the Lord. I was even involved in Tondo, Navotas community Bible studies, although my heart was really in the Music Ministry. It was the year 1986 when I married my sweet and beautiful fiancé Dothy - God’s best for me. We migrated to San Diego, California. I was privileged to assist JIL San Diego in Sunday preaching during the infancy stage of the church. My 13-year experience in San Diego was a molding and maturing factor of my life. I learned to be more dependent in the Lord after so many setbacks and predicaments. We were blessed with 2 children – Nikki and Josh. In spite of the happiness, still my wife and I knew in one way or the other God is calling us for His service although we did not know, what, how or when. We were surprised when we learned that the Lord was calling us to move to Virginia in a place where we never knew anybody, or been to a place before just to start a JIL church with 7 women. We knew in our hearts God is calling us to pastor a church there & we did answer the call. We have seen the hands of God; His provision was very evident. His faithfulness never put us into shame. He continuously adds souls into the church, bringing family after family every Sunday, not just Filipinos, but even people of other races. Many lives are being transformed and impacted through the JIL Greater Washington DC church. Now our church is turning 8 years old on September 11, 2005, a very historical date. I believe that God changed America at that historic date. Could it be possible that on our 8th year we will be changed into something….into a glorious church fulfilling God’s vision and knowing that our future is better than our beginnings? Truly we sound the alarm that the God of JIL is an awesome God! Signed: Pastor, JIL GWDC |
